Wouldn’t we save money by not having a Product Owner?

The purpose of the Product Owner accountability in Scrum is to maximize the value of the Product. It boggles the mind that some organizations have existed for years without a single person responsible for product value. Consider most organizations today. They have an IT team, a business team, and executives who decide which projects to run each year. But day in and day out, no single person is responsible for the value the product delivers. How can this be? Scrum solves this with the Product Owner accountability. In Scrum, the Product Owner is the person who determines what the Product's Scrum team will do next. The Product Owner’s primary purpose is to maximize the product's value resulting from the Scrum Team’s work. They create a single to-do list for the Scrum Team. The Product Owner weighs many competing priorities within and outside of the organization. How this is carried out varies based on the individual, the company, and even the product. Product Owners must understand the organization's business strategy and use that information to create the vision and strategy for the Product. The Product Owner role is critical to the success of the Product.

What is the difference between the Professional Scrum Product Owner II course and the Professional Scrum Product Owner Advanced course?

It is always helpful for Product Owners to have a good understanding of the Scrum framework. Those new to Scrum should consider taking the Applying Professional Scrum course first. In addition, if you have not yet experienced the Professional Scrum Product Owner course, consider taking that course before the Advanced class. Those new to Scrum can read the Scrum Guide at www.ScrumGuides.org for free.

After participating in the Professional Scrum Product Owner - Advanced course, you will receive a free chance to earn the Professional Scrum Product Owner II (PSPO II) certification. This is a globally recognized certification backed by Scrum.org, the home of Scrum.

What does the PSPO II certification exam look like?

The certification exam has 40 questions. Participants have 60 minutes to complete the exam. The exam is delivered online at www.Scrum.org. The format for the test is multiple choice, with a few true/false questions.

What are the prerequisites for taking the PSPO-A course?

Accepted Answer

There are no required prerequisites, although it can be helpful to have completed the PSPO course first. Also, while not required for this course, familiarity with the Scrum framework is helpful for any successful Product Owner. We recommend the Applying Professional Scrum course for those new to Scrum. It’s a fantastic, fun, and engaging experience.

What if I don’t pass the PSPO II certification exam?

Accepted Answer

If you take the PSPO II exam within 14 days of completing the PSPO-A course and don’t pass, you will get a second try for free. In addition, you may purchase additional retakes as needed.

How long is the PSPO-A course?

The PSPO-A course is usually scheduled for two days, each consisting of approximately eight hours of instruction. Rebel Scrum offers more flexible options, including an opportunity to take the class in four half-days instead of two full days. We also occasionally offer weekend classes as well. In addition, we offer this class either remotely or in person. You may schedule a private course for your organization, or you can sign up for any of our public classes.
