Why I Started Scrum Day Madison

This week, rather than sharing an article about a single idea, I want to share a passion project with you.
I started Scrum Day Madison because I believe ideas matter. It is a chance to step away from the day-to-day and hear something worth considering from people who have real experience to share.
I am selective about speakers. Over the years that has included Dr. Alistair Cockburn, a signer of the Agile Manifesto, authors I admire such as Stephanie Ockerman, Gunther Verheyen, and Amber Field, and this year a strong group that includes Jeff Sutherland (co-creator of Scrum), Sagar Awate, Siva Balu, Chris Diller, Chris Sims, Matthew Kirchharr, Marina Alex, and so many more!
I do this because I love discussing and sharing new ideas. I also love being reminded of what is important and why we do this work. And besides that, getting better requires energy. And getting together as at a conference can give us the energy and enthusiasm to recommit to continuous improvement in our day-to-day work lives.
And of course, it's fun and energizing to get outside the office and meet with your peers! That is why I always include a Liberating Structures activity to mix things up. This year we have two: a Wicked Closer with master facilitator Darin Harris, and Impromptu Networking with Chris Downs.
I hope you will join us for this year's event!
